At last I see the lights
Last Sunday was extremely unplanned, random, and ridiculous. It was, however, probably the best day I’ve ever had in my 25 years of existence. I got to see the lights! But before I get there, I might as well share how the adventure began. We (GuyGuy, the gent, and I) had planned to grab brunch in San Jose. We thought we would meet up there, maybe grab some custard-filled donut holes on the way, eat, and then the gent would accompany me to Walnut Creek again to continue the apartment hunt. None of this happened. Mainly because a lot of leasing centers are closed on Sunday. Instead GuyGuy ventured with us to Walnut Creek. We ended up eating at Cheesecake Factory (you can view pictures of what we ate in the last post). Afterwards, the decision was made to explore Berkeley, since I had never been. We hopped onto the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) for my very first BART ride. The gent suggested we get cupcakes at Love At First Bite. Somehow or another we got off on the wrong stop. We decided to walk instead of getting back on the BART. I’m not exactly sure if that was the smartest idea. We found ourselves walking the streets of Berkeley, passing some of the creepiest homes. Like this one:
I hope you (the reader) don’t live here. If you do, then I’m sorry. We sped up our walking strides when we came across this. After about a mile, we finally arrived at the cupcake shop. Unfortunately, we devoured the cupcakes and rice crispy treat before we could take a picture of it. As we were scarfing down the sweets, the gent was suddenly struck with the idea that hot dogs would be delicious. We were all in agreement.
We google-mapped our way to Top Dog. This happened to be right near Berkeley’s campus. It wasn’t as close as we thought. We walked and walked and the air grew colder. Not to mention we were being followed by a Santa/Lumberjack hybrid. We think he was after Guyguy. Naturally. Anyways… we took a detour so SantaJack wouldn’t be able to follow Guy. It was a huge relief after we lost him. We were getting really worried. We came across a Cal Berkeley store and each decided to purchase a sweater to keep us warm.
This is what we bought. Coincidentally, they all look very similar. Oh well! As we were walking towards Top Dog, someone voiced, “Good ol’ Bears!”. I took that as a compliment. Who wouldn’t like our matching sweaters? They’re so neat!
After we had our hotdog fix, we were in dire need of rest. We found a boba shop nearby to sip on milk tea and veg out a little.
This was much needed to regainĀ energy to make it back to Walnut Creek.
When we finally got to the car that was parked at the top of the BART parking structure, the gent started the ignition. I thought we were heading straight back to Sunnyvale. I was wrong. He drove a little further up to the highest point on the rooftop of the parking structure and parked the car. He got out and opened the truck. To my surprise, he busted outĀ floating lights! My heart sank. He went back to the car and started blasting “I See the Light” from Disney’s Tangled. I must’ve said “Are you serious?!” a million times. This has been a dream of mine. I totally didn’t see this coming.
I couldn’t believe this actually happened. I cried like a giddiot. This day was amazing. There really is no other way to put it.
Thanks to Guyguy, we have it captured on video:
