There’s so much going on in life right now to even blog about.
Just saying :)
We started off this whole juicing bit great. We opted for a 7-day juice plan, per my last post. Disclaimer, this was not a juice plan for weight loss. The plan was just trying to get more of our daily dose of fruits and veggies. So we decided to shock our bodies with a mild 1-week cleanse. We decided that plan was to start Friday and end the following Friday. Leej wanted to kick start by starting 1 day earlier by having juice for dinner last Thursday night. We did, and it tasted fantastic.
This one is beet, carrot, strawberry, and kale.
The following day we began our journey! Or so we thought. Friday: Day One. It started off as a good juicing day but ended in failure. That night I was still extremely PMS-y and had this terrible craving for a cheeseburger. And I NEVER crave burgers. So I texted the hubs and let him know I’d start juicing on Saturday. This craving had to be fulfilled. Thanks to Trueburger in Oakland, it was. So our juicing resumed Saturday & Sunday.
Here’s one of the other juices we made. This one was grapefruit, lime, kale, beets, and strawberry. It tasted very…healthy.
When Monday came we juiced until lunch and I ran into a problem. I was at work I knew my clothes felt a little loose, so I decided to hop onto the scale. To my surprise I had lost weight. Almost 4 pounds in just 2 full days of juicing. I know it doesn’t sound like much, but for me that is a lot in that short amount of time. It doesn’t help that I’m constantly on my feet walking around in a fast-paced environment at work. I had no other choice. I had to adjust this juicing thing somehow. Compensate. So later that evening, this is what I ate.
What a way to compensate, ay? It was delicious! You can never go wrong with Korean wings and Fenton’s Creamery. Last night was a whole different story. Afterwards we saw the Silver Linings Playbook. Twas a good movie, but thats a different subject. We juiced both breakfast and lunch but enjoyed our (early) Valentines dinner at Marica in Rockridge. Leejay has a big board meeting coming up on Friday and last night was the best night for us to celebrate considering our work schedules. It was totally worth it. You could read my review on Yelp :) Which brings us to today. Leejay will be strict juicing for 3 days straight. I, because of the rapid weight loss, will only juice 2 meals a day. All in all, we are glad to even have a juicer. After seeing the effects it has, and allowing us to make our own fresh juices at home, it really gives us a chance to add more fruits and veggies into our daily lives. I can’t wait until my brother comes to visit this weekend. A whole week of gluttony is about to go down!
Tomorrow begins our 7 day juice adventure. Thanks to our Breville & our handy juice recipe book, we are now ready to try it out. I was thinking about keeping it on the DL but figured that this would be a nice stretch of accountability. Although juicing has been a trend as of late, I really do believe in the power of juice. Generally people are supposed to be consuming a certain amount of veggies and fruits per day. According to the CDC (Center of Disease Control) , we ( people in our 20-somethings) should be consuming at least 2 cups of fruit, and 3 cups of vegetables minimum, per day. Unfortunately there are few who hit the minimum requirement. The hubs and I included. Hence we will set forth on our mission of health and detox. We’ll get to all the other juicy details later this week.
Wordpress was getting too complicated for my washed-up-web-designer abilities so I’ve transferred us over to be hosted on good ol’ Tumblr! Since we know a lot of you already have Tumblr accounts, now it’s even easier to follow us and stay connected. (Though it wasn’t easy moving our blog over one post at a time — hnghhhh.)
Sorry for the long hiatus, we’ve been pretty busy on our end. But we’ve missed our dear blog, and we have a lot of updates! Stay tuned for more posts and adventures in 2013 :)
PEACE OUT, WORDPRESS.
