Wait! When did I become a jeweler?

So I have been looking for the perfect statement necklace for the longest time. Leejay had many sleepless nights searching for one for me as well. We had no luck! We surfed the net and there it was. The kind of necklace I had been looking for. There were just a couple of problems. The color was wrong and we couldn’t find the source to where we could purchase one like it. Finally, I decided that I should just make it myself. Yup! That’s exactly what I did. We drove down to Chinatown in San Francisco and gathered the beads and pearls. The next day we checked out some beading stores around Walnut Creek for the rest of the materials. All of that was actually pretty easy. The challenging part was putting it together. Mind you, I have never made anything but lanyard key chains and origami stars in my younger days. I thought I’d give it a shot. Thanks to YouTube, I was able to learn how to make a loop with wire pins. I realized that that’s all I really needed to know. The rest was, well… self explanatory? I hoped. So here it is ladies and gentlemen. The fruit of my labor…

What I wanted to make:

What I bought:

What I made:

I must say, I am very proud of myself. Although my hand was cramped in places I never knew could cramp, it was well worth it. I may or may not add a few more freshwater pearls. So far, this is it! I couldn’t be happier.

Keepsakes

Here’s a quick look at my bouquet, hair piece, and the gents’ boutonniere. I’ll be adding a small birdcage veil to the hairpiece myself! These flowers are made of fabric, so they’ll never wilt away! I like to think of it as a wedding keepsake. I’m absolutely in love with the color scheme. It set the tone for our entire fall wedding. We’ve always been drawn to these colors, so I’m super excited to see the wedding come to life. Simplicity has been our goal from the start. I’m glad that we still haven’t strayed from that.

7 course beef, though

We went to Pagolac in the Tenderloin today with Jeremy & Narie, a friend from Chicago who just moved to SF. This is how we welcomed her to town! We ordered the 7 course beef that people have been raving about on Yelp! I’m so glad we did. It was definitely a good time.

The ‘new’ earrings
The decision has been made. When my mom came to visit this last weekend, she brought these with her. These were my grandmother’s earrings that my mom inherited after she passed away many many years ago. I don’t have any living grandparents with me anymore. I actually feel very touched and honored that I can wear these on my wedding day to symbolize my grandparents.
I love and miss you all very much. You all have the best seats in the house to watch and witness my very special day from above. <3

Parental discretion is advised
My parents flew in to the Bay this weekend to spend some quality time with us and discuss the wedding preparations. The first thing on our agenda was to take them to get some crack wings!
Thank you San Tung! Although there was a lot going on, we had a great time. I’ve never laughed so hard playing Super Nintendo. Who knew my mom was Super Mario Queen?! The following days we spent with my parents and my future in-laws! We ventured through Golden Gate Park and around Pier 39 in San Francisco. Everyone had a blast. My dad said, “when you get 2 silly families together, then you get 1 big silly family”. His calculations are correct! As far as the wedding planning goes, I would say it was very productive!

His ring
Sweet on Maple. This band combines the organic beauty of Dark Maple with the shining strength of titanium. Framed by polished flared edges. We decided on this wedding band because, like mine, is made organically of wood and precious metal.

We’re Trapped!

What better way to get your mind off wedding plans than dancing the night away to trap music. We went to see these guys tonight in SF!

Flosstradamus!

It was nice to just let loose a bit and jump around. It was also nice to run into a few friends while we were at it.

Double date time!
Double date night with Steeze & Madel. Oddly enough, this is the only picture I have from that night. I must’ve been really hungry! Hahaha! Nevertheless, it was a good night of eating and chatting about our upcoming wedding. It’s always nice to be in good company. We ended the night at my apartment watching Momento eating popcorn and sliced jalepenos!

To party, or not to party? That is the question

So my BFF, slash Maid of Honor, decides to take it upon herself to throw me a bachelorette party next month. With all the wedding expenses, I knew that Vegas was simply out of the question. We were trying to find another way around this. A get-together at someones home, perhaps? A few hours later I learned that Virgin Airlines had a sale going on. $59 one-way tickets to Los Angeles! My future hubby ensures me that this is a once in a lifetime event and that I should really consider it. Plus, a night out with the girls (my high school sweethearts) would be just what I need to de-stress. Without further hesitation, even without any concrete plans, I book my flight! Aghhh…

Cheers to whatever awaits me!
